Virtual wires without a switch appliance.
Access and trunk ports, VLAN-aware learning, RSTP, LACP, LLDP, multicast snooping, PVLANs, SPAN, capture, storm control, port security, and topology metadata live in the distributed switch model.
IEEE 802.1ad / QinQ
Provider and customer VLAN semantics without flattening the model.
Outer S-tags, inner C-tags, provider trunks, service VLANs, double-tag-aware parsing, and normal 802.1Q behavior can coexist in the same switching system.
Distributed Execution
The switch follows the same placement path as the rest of STRATUM.
Virtual wires and ports can be realized on selected workers, joined to local bridges or VXLANs, and connected across Continuum-managed site relationships.
